I Prevail are stepping into what Eric Vanlerberghe describes as “a new era.” Following extensive writing during tours, the band’s next phase involves returning to fundamentals while embracing renewed creative vision.
“We’re incredibly pumped for everyone to experience this new chapter,” Vanlerberghe shares. “We’ve crafted these tracks while traveling over the past eight months or more… revisiting our roots by focusing on massive hooks, intense breakdowns, and exploring fresh sonic territories.”
The latest singles demonstrate stylistic diversity, with the melodic Violent Nature contrasting their heavier material. For Vanlerberghe, this evolution reflects both musical exploration and vocal development.
“Previously I’d recorded occasional choruses or verses… but suddenly covering tours forced me to rapidly expand my capabilities,” he explains. “It became an engaging challenge. Discovering my scream range translated to building confidence for cleaner choruses. With band support, it clicked – stepping up thinking, ‘I’ve got this.’”
That mutual support proved crucial. “If my voice cracked or I missed a note, they’d encourage rather than criticize. Just ‘Reset and crush it next time.’”
Vanlerberghe notes the intentional variety across the three singles: “Though the album has 10 tracks, these preview our spectrum – maximum heaviness, melody-driven moments, and experimental edges. Together they represent the record’s essence.”
He acknowledges fan adaptation periods: “Some longtime supporters accustomed to our established sound might need adjustment time. But we’re still the same musicians writing authentically. For new listeners, we appreciate their open-mindedness. Feedback’s been overwhelmingly encouraging.”
Regarding covers, studio versions remain unlikely despite occasional live inclusions. “Currently we’re prioritizing original material to solidify I Prevail’s identity,” Vanlerberghe states. “Though we love experimenting, so future surprises aren’t impossible.”
Currently touring, Vanlerberghe cherishes sharing stages with influences and peers. “Performing alongside bands I’ve admired for years like Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and The Devil Wears Prada feels surreal. Plus deepening friendships with groups like Beartooth, Alpha Wolf, and The Amity Affliction makes every day special.”
He concludes with gratitude: “Thank you for supporting our journey. You’ve enabled my childhood dreams. Just as music lifted me through tough times, we hope our songs resonate meaningfully. Whether you’ve followed us for a decade or just discovered us today – immense love and appreciation.”
