Another year has passed without the release of Slipknot‘s highly anticipated 2008 album Look Outside Your Window, and fans are still waiting.
According to Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan in a recent Discord Q&A, Look Outside Your Window is now scheduled for release in 2026: “Let’s start with LOYW, I know I told everyone it would be out this year. I’m very sorry it hasn’t been. Things come up that change our plans all the time with the art we create. I want you to know that 2026 is the year. It’s just simply time, and I’m getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise.”
For those who may not know, Slipknot recorded two albums back in 2008 – All Hope Is Gone, which was released, and the unreleased album Look Outside Your Window, featuring vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and DJ Sid Wilson</strong).
Look Outside Your Window has been promised numerous times over the years, with 2024 and 2025 both being touted as the year of its release. While it’s difficult to predict when it will actually arrive, it seems that Look Outside Your Window is finally on the horizon, although it’s been “coming soon” since 2019. The wait for new Slipknot music continues.
As for the sound of the record, Taylor described it as similar to Radiohead in a 2019 interview, which could be an exciting direction for the band.
“We’ve been trying to find a way to release those songs for a long time,” said Taylor in an interview with Eddie Trunk. “We had two different studios going on at the same time. One group of guys was recording what became Look Outside Your Window, while the rest of the band was working on All Hope Is Gone</em.”
“The songs from Look Outside Your Window are really something special – they’re experimental, but also very melodic and vibey. It’s hard to describe, but there’s something about those songs that’s very solemn, very energetic, and very artistic. For fans who are used to a certain sound from Slipknot, this is completely different. It’s more of a rock vibe, and honestly, it’s similar to Radiohead.”
